Chakra Meditation
Find a quiet place to sit where you know you’ll not be interrupted for 15 mins.
Unplug the phone & switch off the mobile.
If you have some soft melodic music that has no rhythmic beat to distract you then play it in the back so you can barely hear it. It helps to focus your attention from surrounding noises of traffic, kids playing or Snow Bunnies trying to get your attention, Sit upright in a chair with a straight back so as not to slouch and place your feet flat on the ground so that your feet are directly under your knees.
Place your hands in your lap so that they are curved and relaxed –overlap your hands if it is more comfortable.
Face straight ahead so that your head is positioned squarely at the top of your spine. When your head starts off in the right position then it shouldn’t drop forward when you are fully relaxed, it settles down onto the pivot at the top of your spine.
Breathing
Close your eyes and visualise the breath entering and leaving your body.
Visualise the IN breath bringing light, health and happiness into you.
Visualise the OUT breath expelling any negativity, ill health and ‘diss –ease’ that your body may hold.
Do this for a minute.
Your breathing will settle into it’s own rhythm and you will start to feel more comfortable.
Continue to let your breath settle into a slow and calm pulse. IN, OUT, IN, OUT.
Opening your Chakras (Energy points along your spine and head)
When you are content that your breathing has settled into a steady, peaceful flow then visualise that your are drawing up the colour RED from the earth, through the soles of your feet, up your legs to the Base of your spine.
There is a transparent, tightly closed Bud at the base of your spine.
As the RED reaches this empty Bud, the Bud fills up with the RED and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom
Now draw the colour ORANGE up from the earth to a transparent Bud, tightly closed about 2 inches above the RED bud. This is about 1 inch below your Belly button.
As the ORANGE reaches the empty BUD, the Bud fills up with the ORANGE and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom.
Now draw the colour YELLOW up from the earth to a transparent Bud, tightly closed about 2 inches above the ORANGE bud. This is about 1 inch above your Belly button.
As the YELLOW reaches the empty BUD, the Bud fills up with the YELLOW and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom.
Now draw the colour GREEN up from the earth to a transparent Bud, tightly closed in the area of your heart
As the GREEN reaches the empty BUD, the Bud fills up with the GREEN and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom
Now draw the colour BLUE up from the earth to a transparent Bud, tightly closed in the area of your Throat
As the BLUE reaches the empty BUD, the Bud fills up with the BLUE and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom
Now draw the colour VIOLET up from the earth to a transparent Bud, tightly closed on your Forehead
As the VIOLET reaches the empty BUD, the Bud fills up with the VIOLET and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom
Now draw the colour MAGENTA up from the earth to a transparent Bud, tightly closed on the Crown of your head
As the MAGENTA reaches the empty BUD, the Bud fills up with the MAGENTA and each petal unfolds until the whole flower is in full bloom
Now allow yourself to sit in this energy for a few minutes as each Chakra spins in the energy that you have opened up.
Be aware that all of your body is gently buzzing and is in tune.
Closing Down
After a few minutes, start to close down the Chakras one by one.
Starting with the Crown of your head.
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The MAGENTA colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud. Now bring your focus down to your forehead.
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The VIOLET colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud. Now bring your focus down to your throat
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The BLUE colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud. Now bring your focus down to your Heart
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The GREEN colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud. Now bring your focus down to your Solar Plexus (between belly button and heart)
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The YELLOW colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud. Now bring your focus down to your SACRAL point (between belly button and base of spine)
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The ORANGE colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud. Now bring your focus down to the Base of your spine
Visualise the Flower slowly closing as each petal folds over the next until the bud is fully closed. The RED colour is still vibrant but the flower is now a tightly closed Bud.
Allow yourself a minute or two to feel the difference between how you were before this exercise and how relaxed you should now feel.
Slowly become aware of your toes, legs arms and hands and slowly open your eyes.
Take a drink of water.
